DESCRIPTION:
Departing from Rome via climate controlled deluxe motor coach on the Autostrada del Sole, you will pass the Abbey of Montecassino, rebuilt after the total distruction during World War II. Then on to Naples for a short panoramic tour of the city . Next, on the way to Pompeii, a stop at an ancient cameo and coral factory in Torre del Greco. Then, the city of Pompeii for a traditional Italian lunch in a local restaurant
followed by a visit to the excavations where 19 centuries ago during the summer of 79 A.D., nearby Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupted completely destroying the Imperial Roman Cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. This eruption, with its gases, ashes and hot clouds claimed numerous lives, but
at the same time preserved the existing environment and a way of life typical of the Ancient Roman Society at its height. The layers of ashes preserved people, food, domestic animals and everyday items intact. All remained hidden until the first half of the 18th century, when regular digs were organized.
